I truly am going at a snail's pace, partly because of coming home tired at the end of the day (which is a good thing since I work out before work and I get to sleep quite well), and that I just like taking my time.

This doodle dump comes in two and a half parts: two for completed pieces along with cropped/icon'ed versions, and "half" as it's a review of a previous piece.

This below under the cut is very image heavy -- two versions of one completed work, and ten varying icon crops. ^^; I thought I'd choose a little later once the set comes together.

Alright! One last before I go -- a review of Backlighted Sheepie. Again, recoloring the purple shadow/highlight layer into a warmer brown.

I have not indulged in the chance to practice on shading and highlights, mainly because I'm a bit of a coward and just wanted to stick to the basics. But not anymore!

Today, as I found myself stumped on what to put in the ~white~ background, I thought that I would try to use it to my advantage...

I've always had a soft spot for the token Annoying Brat in any given series (as long as they're "brats" -- if they're just "annoying" then it's a no-go :| ), and Appendix no Kiki is one of them. I've also enjoyed picturing him after eight to ten years and see how he turns out.

While there are fanarts out there, I have yet to find one that matches how I see him: I do not see him skinny (duh Saint!), I do not see him keeping his hair short (because I have a personal bias for LOTS OF HAIR), his face is NOT long and his face doesn't do the line-faced/stoned emo thing because he's a lot more expressive than that.



( There'll be room for change, but gradually. I know to have something like this -- broken is hard to fix. )


Obviously, I need practice in digital coloring as well...



( Make the change, it's worth the try. What's broken can be fixed tonight. )

I haven't been drawing as often as I'd like lately, but I'm slowly seeking to remedy that :D! I also hope to get to the requests left over from years past because damn, I don't like keeping them sitting undone for so damn long. >.>a

Even if there weren't any official announcement for a Sketchavember this year, I still called on the thought to spur myself forward in practicing free-hand drawing with the tablet. I only had so much time to sketch after work, what with gym at the start of my day, and just no time to do anything else at work (I use my break for tags and foods).

I became a little frustrated as I wasn't able to produce an ideal "a sketch a day" rhythm, but what I did instead, is that I cobbled pieces together over a span of several days. Granted, they're not as complete as my traditional works would have, but again, it's me still trying to become at home with the tablet and getting my rusty hinges working again.

Out of this whole experience, I will still carry on practicing with the tablet and I hope to develop a style that is presentable and of course, one that I'll be happy with.

I should also consider buying a new scanner. >.>;;
 

One of my main beefs about having a tiny living space is, well, the lack of space to lay out my ginormous sketchpad.

Then I remember that I have a tablet. |D;;;

It's been a pain to boot up my Dad's slowpoke old machine (no offense man, but you really are a slow and old PC ;;) just so I can use the scanner. So the first two down here were the last ones I've scanned in a while and I decided to use them for color practice purposes with the tablet.

Back in September, Marina Asylum had a Prom event and a great number of players went around and dressed their characters X3~ Not to be left behind, I dressed my girls Sasha and Kohran as to what they will be wearing for the occasion.

It had been a long -- too long -- of a time since I drew anything, and so I took the chance to dream up some dresses and put them to paper. :3

Here's another of the Trooper boys and we're looking at Touma Hashiba ~

So far, I've only gotten caps from OVA1 - Gaiden and of course, cropped icons out of print media. :3 It's in making these icons that I kind of see that Touma is the youngest of the Troopers. I'm just so tempted to flick that long lone clump of hair going across his face. X3;;
